Significance of Lord Krishna Janmashtami

Lord Sree Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. This festival is also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami. It is an annual festival of Hindu Religion People that marks the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Janmashtami is too much important for Hindu Religious people. It is observed according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha in Bengali month Shravon or Vadro.

On this occasion, the devotees of Lord Krishna spend their day observing a fast. Puja is performed at night and people break their fast after feeding lord Krishna with ‘Bhog’. The devotees break the fast on the next day when both Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi are over as per the timings.
