History of 21 February

Bengali is the one and only nation in the world that sacrifice their lives for their Mother Language. In 1952, Bangladeshi people (then East Pakistan) fought with West Pakistan (currently known as Pakistan) for recognition for the Bangla language. Many people sacrifice their lives on 21 February 1952, to protest for Bengali Langauge.

On 21 February 1952, police opened fire on rallies. Abdus Salam, Abul Barkat, Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar, and Shafiur Rahman died, with hundreds of others injured.

People sacrificed their lives for their mother language on that day which was a rare incident in history.
