At Least 41 People Killed including Firefighters at BM Container Depot Fire

At least 41 people have been killed so far including Fire Service (Fire Fighters) in a fire at a BM Container Depot in Sitakunda. A total of five Fire Fighters were killed. In the meantime, Bangladesh Army has already joined the fire control.

According to the fire service source, there was a loud explosion around 10:30 PM on Saturday (June 4, 2022), from the chemical in the BM Depot Container. At this time more than 200 people, including 21 Fire Man and 10 Policemen, were burned and injured as the fire spread around the depot.

Director-General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Main Uddin has confirmed this information.

Seven people died when they were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Nine people, including two firefighters, were identified among the dead.

He said we could not find anyone on the side of the owner of the container depot and due to the non-cooperation, it is creating problems to speed up the fire control.

Meanwhile, a total of 29 units of the fire service are still working to put out the fire.
