Fire at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda, 5 people killed, 150 injured and increasing

At least 5 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in a fire at a BM container depot in Sitakunda, Chittagong. The injured included depot workers, members of the police, and the fire service.

Besides this, about 63 people burnt in the fire at the depot have been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed the news to OgroNews.Com.

Sitakunda police duty officer Nasiruddin told Ogro News that he had heard that more than 150 burn victims had reached the hospital. Several members of the fire service and police were also injured at BM Container Depot. But we do not have the actual news that how many members were injured. All police officers are on duty with the injured people.

Witnesses said they could not enter the explosion area due to the explosion in the chemical container. Fire service and Civil Defence members are trying to control the fire.

It is also earned that there were about 50,000 containers in the BM Container Depot at that time.

He said that the fire was reported at 11:25 pm at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda, Chittagong. After that, 8 units and later 8 more units went there and they are trying to control the fire.
