UGC Instruction to close “Rag Day” in the university

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all public and private universities across the country to stop celebrating Rag Day.

Monday (July 4, 2022) night UGC member Professor. Biswajit Chand gave this information to OgroNews.com. He said that as per the judgment of the High Court, the universities have been directed to stop celebrating Rag Day.

On the other hand, an office order signed by UGC’s private branch director Omar Farooq on Monday, July 4, 2022, directed to stop the celebration of Rag Day at the private university.

It said that an order of Writ Petition No. 4515/2022 of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court directed to immediately stop all forms of obscenity, nudity, DJ party, indecent behavior, prohibited activities, and bullying in the name of Rag Day celebrations in all educational institutions of the country.

The order further said that all the private universities have been directed to take necessary steps to stop such activities as earlier as possible as per the directions of the High Court Division.
